WHAT EXACTLY IS CREATIVE DRAMA?

In my opinion, that is a good starting point. I would, however, like to add some buzz words from the definition of creative drama according to the American Alliance for Theatre and Education. It states that creative drama is also improvisational, non-exhibitional, reflective, and most importantly process-oriented. A finished product is somewhat counter-productive in an educational frame. The goals and outcomes of using drama in the classroom, according to creative drama teacher and specialist Ruth Beall Heinig, include developing more efficient language and communication skills, practicing problem solving, creativity, a positive self-concept, becoming socially aware, developing empathy, values, attitudes, and an understanding of the art of theatre.

One can see that with such extensive definitions, this work covers a lot of ground. I have found that most of these attributes show themselves during the work, whether you planned it or not! The gem of this work is that it allows us to practice and react to the world in a safe environment. If a situation is unpleasant we can easily start again, or propose different solutions.
